Chapter 1 Individual PA — Part 1 of 5: Concepts and Traces
Worth 40 of the 100 points on this test. Eight questions: three about ideas
from the chapter, five where you read a short program and say what it prints.
This one is a test, so it does not behave like the quizzes.
- You submit once. When you press submit the paper locks and does not reopen.
- Nothing is marked on screen. No green, no red, no notes explaining the
answer. Your teacher hands the score back. - Submitting is what unlocks Part 2, not passing. Answer everything, submit,
and move on.
You can change any answer as many times as you like before you submit.
On the tracing questions
Read the code and work out what it prints. Every one of them is a straight run of
statements — no decisions, no loops, nothing Chapter 1 has not taught. Two of
them come out differently from what the numbers look like they should say; that
is the point of asking.
Work them out on paper if it helps. Do not open a console: this is closed-book,
and your teacher is watching for it.
The papers are not the same
Everyone in the room gets the same eight questions in different words and
different numbers, in a different order. Reading someone else's screen will cost
you the time it takes to notice.
